Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched the BHARATPOL portal in Delhi on Tuesday. The newly launched portal allows law enforcement agencies (LEA) across India to access real-time information for faster international police assistance.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) created the BHARATPOL portal, which was unveiled during a ceremony held at Bharat Mandapam. It is one of the central government's many important efforts to improve the nation's capacity for law enforcement.

What is BHARATPOL?
The BHARATPOL's prime objective is to help Indian LEAs share information in real time so that they may get international police assistance more quickly and effectively.
The CBI, as India’s National Central Bureau (NCB-New Delhi) for INTERPOL, works with various agencies, including law enforcement, to support international cooperation in criminal investigations.
This coordination is carried out at the Central, State, and Union Territory levels by INTERPOL Liaison Officers (ILOs), who are connected to Unit Officers (UOs) in their respective organizations at the level of Branch Heads, Superintendents of Police, and Commissioners of Police.
Why is BHARATPOL Portal Needed?
At the moment the primary means of communication between the CBI, ILOs, and UOs at the moment are letters, emails, and faxes.
The increasing prevalence of transnational crimes, such as financial crimes, cybercrime, online radicalization, organized crime, drug trafficking, human trafficking, and others, calls for quick and immediate international support for criminal investigations. In order to overcome this difficulty, CBI created the BHARATPOL Portal, which is available on its official website and would provide a common platform for all parties involved.
How Will BHARATPOL Help Security Agencies?
The BHARATPOL portal will simplify handling international assistance requests through INTERPOL, such as issuing Red Notices and other color-coded INTERPOL notices.
The portal will be a game-changer for field-level police officers, increasing their efficiency in tackling crimes and security challenges throughout the country. With quicker and easier access to international assistance, it will enhance India's fight against transnational crimes.
