Frenchman- Philippe Croizon (42) whose arms and legs are amputed swam across the English Channel on the 18-19 Sept 2010 weekend. He completed his swim in 13 and-a-half hours instead of 24 hours as was estimated. Croizon set off from Folkestone on the British side of the English Channel and arrived near the French town of Wissant. His’ specially designed leg prostheses enabled him to propel himself through the water. The swimmer lost his arms and legs after suffering an electric shock in 1994 as he stood on a ladder adjusting his television antenna that touched a power line. In 2007 he made headlines for parachuting from an airplane. In his book,  J'ai decide de vivre he described the different experiences he had.
