Andrea Colaco Developed Accurate 3D Gesture Sensing Technology on Mobiles

Andrea Colaco, a native of South Goa's Velim in May 2013 developed real-time, millimetre accurate 3D gesture sensing on the mobile phones. The development will enable the users in interacting with the devices via medium of thin air. This would also pass the touchscreen technology.

Earlier in May 2013, Andrea Colaco also won the 100000 US dollar entrepreneurship competition of Massachusetts Institute Technology (MIT) for the innovation. She explained that in the immediate market like cellphone devices, gesture recognition is the only next interface for the devices.

This innovation was put on the podium at a competition as 3dim solution. 3dim solution was set up by Andrea Colaco along with its co-founder Ahmed Kirmani. The technology accomplishes high-quality 3D sensing when it employs patented signal processing ways which were invented at Massachusetts Institute Technology.

For the panel of scientists, industry professionals, venture capitalists and the entrepreneurs who judged the eight finalists out of 3000 participants at the entrepreneurship competition of Massachusetts Institute Technology (MIT) for the innovation, Andrea Colaco’s idea was the most appropriate one from finance point of view.

• She has also won various Goa scholars’ award 2010.
• She has remained a student of Margao's Fatima Convent High School and ranked second at Goa board Class X exams in 2001.
