Boat with 200 onboard capsized in River Koholi in Kamrup district of Assam

A mechanised boat capsized in River Koholi in Assam’s Kamrup district on 28 September 2015. The overcrowded boat that was carrying nearly 200 people capsized after its engine failed from functioning in the middle of the river and hit against the post of a bridge.

The boat was heading from Chaygaon to Champupara to attend a boat race. Till now, about 30 people were missing, while no casualties were reported.

The local residents have begun rescue operations and NDRF and SDRF personnel have rushed to the spot.
