The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Spain on cooperation in the field of Organ Transplant Services on 24 May 2017.
The MoU was signed between the National Transplant Organization, Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality in Spain and the Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in India.
Key Highlights
• The agreement would enhance bilateral cooperation between India and Spain in the field of organ and tissue procurement and transplantation.
• It would also lead to a better understanding between the two nations.
• The knowledge gained in the process would help in improving the services rendered to the patients suffering from end-stage organ failure.
• The MoU is proposed to be signed with the Spanish authorities during the upcoming bilateral meeting.
