China Urged Both Koreas to Maintain Peace

Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao on 30 May2010 urged for peace efforts in the region of Korean Peninsula after a summit meeting with South Korean President Lee Myuang-bak and Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama in South Korea.

Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao on 30 May2010 urged for peace efforts in the region of Korean Peninsula after a summit meeting with South Korean President Lee Myuang-bak and Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama in South Korea. He emphasised the need of greater communication between the concerned nations to avoid any unwanted incident taking place between North Korea and South Korea.

  • On March 26 2010,the Cheonan, the South Korean naval vessel sank off in yellow sea, western coast of Korean Peninsula killing 46 sailors on board.
  • On May 20, an International report revealed that the Cheonan ship was torpedoed by a submarine of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea).It created the tension between North Korea and South Korea.
