Rebel forces attacked the Ivory Coast strongman Laurent Gbagbo’s residence in Abidijan on 1 April 2011. Despite losing an election held in November 2010, Laurent Gbagbo refused to resign from his post. Alassane Ouattara was recognised by the United Nations as the winner of the election. Ivory Coast is a country located in West Africa.


This is the second civil war in Ivory Coast. Earlier, A civil war was fought in 2002-04 between Laurent Gbagbo and the rebel forces.
