Committee Constituted to Check Harassment Allegations Made By AIR News Presenters

Ministry for Information & Broadcasting constituted a committee to check sexual harassment allegations made by the news presenters at FM Gold AIR.

A committee was constituted by the Ministry for Information & Broadcasting to check the sexual harassment allegations made by the news presenters, represented by AIR Broadcasting Professionals Association (AIRBPA) at FM Gold AIR.

The committee was constituted on the grounds of the report which appeared in certain sections of the Press alleging sexual harassment of women presenters at FM Gold AIR. The head of this committee will be the officer of level of Joint Secretary apart from senior lady officers.

Role of the Committee

• The committee will look into the matter of certain allegations made by women Radio Presenters of FM Gold, AIR, represented by AIRBPA.
• The committee will also look into the matter of issues associated with safety of women at workplace in FM Gold, AIR.
• The committee will submit the report within three days of the constitution.

Allegations made by radio presenters

Radio presenters at Prasar Bharati had complained about sexual harassment at the workplace. The All India Radio Broadcasting Professionals Association (AIRBPA) filed its complaint on 4 March 2013 with the Delhi Commission for Women. AIRBPA also planned to file the complaint with the National Commission for Women (NCW).
