Answers with Explanation
1. (a) Operation Trident
The 46th Indian Navy Day was observed to celebrate the magnificence, achievements and role of the naval force to the country. The observance of the Day commemorates the launch of Operation Trident under the then Chief of Naval Staff SM Nanda on 4 December 1971.
2. (b) Kerala
The largest-ever floating solar power plant in India was inaugurated by state power minister MM Mani at the Banasura Sagar dam in Wayanad. The solar power plant floats on the surface of the water and has a capacity of 500 kilowatts (kW). The solar plant consists of 1938 solar panels with a capacity of 260 watts.
3. (c) Prithvi Shaw
Mumbai's 18-year-old batsman Prithvi Shaw was named as the captain of the Indian Under-19 team for the 2018 U-19 World Cup The tournament is scheduled to be held in New Zealand in January 2018. Punjab's Shubman Gill has been named as Shaw's deputy.
4. (d) Fifteenth Finance Commission
The Fifteenth Finance Commission held its first meeting at North Block in New Delhi under the Chairmanship of NK Singh and was attended by all the other Members of the Commission.

The National Awards for The Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities was presented by the President Ram Nath Kovind on the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities on 3 December 2017. The National Awards were presented in 14 main categories to 52 individuals and institutions.
6. (b) Rajender Prasad
The National Agricultural Education Day was observed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer’s Welfare on 3 December 2017. The celebration of the Day was conceived by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government in 2015 to mark the birthday of first Union Agriculture Minister and Former President of India Rajendra Prasad.
7. (b) Arogya 2017
The first International Exhibition and Conference on AYUSH and Wellness sector- AROGYA 2017 was inaugurated by Ayush Minister Shripad Yesso Naik in New Delhi on 4 December 2017. The main theme of the event is ‘Enhancing the global potential of AYUSH’.
8. (d) Telangana
The state government of Telangana on 2 December 2017 signed an agreement with Vindhya E-Infomedia Private Limited to set up the world’s first Information and Technology (IT) campus for differently-abled persons in Hyderabad.The proposed campus will focus on creating employment opportunities for persons with disabilities.
9. (a) United States of America
The United States of America has withdrawn itself from a United Nations pact to improve the handling of migrant and refugee situations deeming it ‘inconsistent’ with its policies. The announcement was made by the US Mission to the United Nations in a statement, which read that the United Nation's New York declaration contains numerous provisions that are inconsistent with the Trump Administration's immigration principles.
10. (c) South Korea
The United States of America and South Korea launched their largest-ever joint aerial drill called ‘Vigilant Ace’ on 4 December 2017. Around 12,000 US service members, including members of the Marines and Navy joined the South Korean troops on the occasion and the drill saw participation from six F-22 Raptor stealth fighters and more than 230 aircrafts.
11. (c) Venezuela
The President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro has announced the creation of a new virtual currency in a bid to ease the country's economic crisis.The new crypto-currency Petro is expected to allow the country to advance in issues of monetary sovereignty, to make financial transactions and overcome the financial blockade. The economy of the country has been impacted heavily by the falling oil revenue and plummeting value of its existing currency, the bolivar.
12. (a) Deepika Kumari
Indian archer Deepika Kumari won the bronze medal at the Indoor Archery World Cup Stage 2, which concluded in Bangkok, Thailand on 3 December 2017. The third-seeded Deepika defeated the 13th seeded Sayana Tsyrempilova of Russia 7-3 in the women's recurve bronze play-off. Her medal is however, the only one India managed to grab at the tournament, as other Indian archers crashed out early from the tournament.
