e-Commerce firm & online travel company ibiboGroup on 20 March 2014 announced to acquire Bangalore-based startup YourBus.in to strengthen the offers in the bus travel space. The companies did not disclose the value of the deal.
The acquisition would allow bus operators to track their buses and get detailed analytics on punctuality and efficiency of their vehicles, allowing them to sort information by route, bus driver and vehicle number, as well as get an estimated time of arrival reports and other weekly and daily location-based reports.
YourBus.in is an online GPS-based bus tracking and analytics platform. YourBus is functional in 200 buses and is already integrated with redBus mobile and web applications.
While, ibiboGroup is a joint venture between South Africa-based media and internet company Naspers and Chinese internet-focused strategic investor Tencent.
YourBus was founded in 2011 by BITS-Pilani graduates Rajesh Mallipeddi and Satya Padmanabham.
The YourBus application shows the location of bus in real time on a map on Smartphone. It also shows the arrival time at pickup point through SMS updates.
