Former Indian No 2 snooker player Syed Habib passed away on 20 August 2011.
Habib was India No.2 in snooker for three years from 1980. Syed reached the semifinals of the National billiards championships twice in 1987 and 1988.
He entered the billiards when he defeated the then World billiards champion Michael Ferreira in the Pune Nationals in 1987.
At the International level, he represented India in the IBSF World snooker in 1981 and the IBSF World Masters snooker in 2009. He had lost to Girish Parekh in the final of the National snooker championships in Chennai in 1981.
Syed had a coaching stint in Singapore, Brunei and Malaysia from 1989-92. Briefly, he was the coach of the Sri Lankan senior snooker team with Arvind Savur.
