Goh Choon Phong took charge as the chief executive officer of Singapore Airlines on 3 January 2011. He succeeded outgoing CEO Chew Choon Seng. Singapore Airlines faces low-fare competition on long-haul routes from Jetstar and AirAsia X Sdn. The airline also has completion from Cathay Pacific Airways and Korean Air Lines who renewed their efforts to lure lucrative business class travellers.
