On February 19, Google announced the opening of Ananta, its newest and fourth campus in Bengaluru. This campus is also one of Google's largest offices in the world.
Google claimed that the office, located in the East Bengaluru neighborhood of Mahadevapura, marks a "major milestone" in the company's dedication to India, a market in which it has spent billions of dollars to help connect hundreds of millions of individuals and local businesses to the internet.
Google’s Largest Office in the World
Ananta, which means "limitless" in Sanskrit, is 1.6 million square feet in size and can accommodate more than 5,000 workers. The new office will be home to teams from different Google divisions, including Android, Search, Pay, Cloud, Maps, Play, and Google DeepMind, among others.
Unique Office Design and Features
Google's new Bengaluru office is designed for collaboration and accessibility, featuring:
- Sabha: A central meeting area for discussions and teamwork.
- Neighborhood-style workspaces: Designed for both collaboration and private focus.
- Tactile flooring: Helps visually impaired individuals navigate easily.
- Jogging and walking trails: Ideal for casual meetings and relaxation.
According to Google, the facility has a sculptural, flowing facade and one of the biggest electrochromic glass installations in India. Additionally, it collects hundreds of liters of rainwater on-site and recycles all of its effluent.
India: A Key Market for Google
India is Google's biggest market in terms of the number of people using its products, with over a billion users. Additionally, it is a crucial area for the search giant's future expansion, particularly with regard to its artificial intelligence initiatives.
According to Preeti Lobana, Vice President and Country Manager at Google India, "the new Ananta campus in Bengaluru marks a significant milestone in our journey, marking the technological paradigm shift underway with AI."

Google’s Workforce in India
Google has increased its engineering and product presence in India in recent years in order to develop new products and add features to a number of its current products.
As part of a significant reorganization in 2024, Google is also reported to have relocated a number of technical and engineering positions from the US to the nation.
India presently employs more than 10,000 people, making it one of the search giant's largest non-US employment bases. In addition to Bengaluru, Google maintains offices in Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai, and Gurugram.
