H-TRIMS project: Hyderabad Traffic Integrated Management System project
H-TRIMS project was in news in November 2014. Hyderabad has found an intelligent way to manage the traffic problems in the city in a smart way by using H-TRIMS (Hyderabad Traffic Integrated Management System).
H-TRIMS, the first of its kind intelligent signaling system in the country comprises intelligent timers and vehicle detectors, the integrated traffic management system and will primarily work on solar power.
The H-TRIMS is aimed at providing commuter-friendly traffic atmosphere and a state of the art multi-purpose technology for the police, as a shot in their arm.
The intelligent signals will adjust themselves automatically by the traffic density and will provide easy passage and warnings to other commuters in other places in case of excess traffic.
The H-TRIMS project was taken up in August 2012 after Dilsuknagar Blasts and has been conceptualised and indigenously developed by Bangalore based Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL).
At present the intelligent signals have been placed at 221 out of 227 junctions in Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
