Fertiliser cooperative major IFFCO on 17 December 2010 declared that it bagged the National Energy Conservation Award 2010 for adopting clean and efficient technologies at its Phulpur unit in Uttar Pradesh. IFFCO's complex fertiliser unit in Paradeep, Orissa received the Certificate of Merit for 2010 for their measures adopted towards conservation of energy. In early 2010 IFFCO had fetched $869256 from Spain towards sale of its Carbon Credits. IFFCO Phulpur unit near Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh manufactures nitrogenous fertiliser (urea) by using natural gas instead of naphtha.
The Power Ministry which constituted the awards presented it to the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative (IFFCO) on the occasion of the National Energy Conservation Day on 14 December 2010.
