The first Hyperloop test track in India is ready! With the construction of India's first 410-meter Hyperloop test track, Indian Railways and IIT Madras have made a significant contribution to transportation technology.
Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Union Railway Minister, shared a video of the test track on Thursday to announce this accomplishment. The Minister wrote on X (formerly Twitter): "Bharat's first Hyperloop test track (410 meters) completed. Team Railways, IIT-Madras' Avishkar Hyperloop team, and TuTr (an incubated startup)."
India’s First Hyperloop Test Track
The project's development has two stages. In the first phase, an 11.5-kilometer track will be built to showcase and validate the technology. After the necessary tests are finished, the second phase, which will span the remaining 100 kilometers of the route, will begin.
According to Financial Express, the system's operating speed has been suggested at 360 kmph, or 100 meters per second, while the Hyperloop train's maximum speed has been set at 1100 kmph.
IIT Madras Students Create History
The project is a collaboration between TuTr, a business supported by IIT Madras, and the Avishkar Hyperloop team.
According to an ET story, the Avishkar Hyperloop team is made up of 76 undergraduate and graduate students from IIT Madras.
What is the Hyperloop System?
A Hyperloop system uses pods, which are pressurized vehicles that move through low-pressure tubes at extraordinary speeds. Each pod provides an effective option for direct travel by carrying 24–28 passengers between destinations without making stops at intermediate stations.
Elon Musk popularized the Hyperloop concept in 2012, and it has since garnered international attention. This breakthrough shows that India is making headway in putting this ground-breaking system into place.
This venture, which has the potential to transform travel through increased speed and modern technology, demonstrates India's dedication to developing its transportation infrastructure.
