Bajrang Lal Takhar from India won a gold medal in men’s singles scull (rowing) in the Asian Games in China on 18 November 2010. Takhar is the first Indian to have won a gold medal in rowing in Asian Games. In the men’s lightweight fours event, India’s Lokesh Kumar, Manjeet Singh, Rajesh Kumar Yadav and Satish Joshi lost to Japan and settled for silver with a timing of 6: 13.32. Anil Kumar, Saji Thomas, Ranjit Singh and the experienced Jenil Krishnan finished second also won a silver in the finals of men’s fours completion in rowing with a timing of 6: 16.79.
