Industrialist R.P. Goenka passed away on 14 April 2013 at his residence at the age of 83. He is survived by his wife Sushila and his sons Harsha Vardhan and Sanjiv.
RP Goenka established RPG Enterprises in the year 1979. It included Phillips Carbon Black, Asian Cables, Agarpara Jute Mill and Murphy India. Other major companies in his group are CESC, CEAT, Spencer's and Saregama.
In post-independence India his contribution to industry was considered among the highest.
