Lanco Infratech Ltd on 30 December 2010 declared that it won the bid to convert the Aligarh-Kanpur section of the National Highway-91 into two lanes between the 140 and 418 km stretch in Uttar Pradesh. The project worth Rs 1000-crore project will be executed under DBFOT (design, build, finance, operate and transfer) mode. The project includes converting the road into two lanes, repairs, widening and reconstruction of three major and 29 minor bridges, construction of five rail-over-bridges, four toll plazas and other wayside amenities. The project will have a grant of Rs 287.91 crore and the concession period will be 12 years.
