Lok Sabha Cleared Amendments to Foreign Trade Act

The Lok Sabha on 12th August 2010 approved amendments to the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulations) Act of 1992.

The Lok Sabha on 12th August 2010 approved amendments to the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulations) Act of 1992. This will provide power to the government to impose quantitative restrictions on the import of goods to protect the domestic industry and to check any unwanted increase in imports or cheap imports.

Moreover, the amendments done in the bill also covers the trade in technology and services. The bill which has already been passed by the Rajya Sabha .
