The Indian Government on 8 December 2010 nominated M Shashidhar Reddy as the Vice President of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). Shashidhar Reddy is currently a member of NDMA. He had joined NDMA in 2005. Reddy who holds a master’s degree in Agronomy from the Kansas State University in the United States is a three-time member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly. He has also served as the Minister for Environment, Science and Technology in the Andhra Pradesh Government. Shashidhar Reddy is currently an MLA from the Sanathnagar Assembly constituency.
The government appointed Dr Muzaffar Ahmad, former Director, Health Services, Jammu and Kashmir, as a member of NDMA, a body chaired by the Prime Minister.
