Kanhaiya Kumar vs Manoj Tiwari Lok Sabha Result 2024: Manoj Tiwari, the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate for the Northeast Delhi Constituency, has won the seat for the third time. He defeated Kanhaiya Kumar by a margin of over one lakh votes.
Northeast Delhi is one of 7 Lok Sabha seats in NCT of Delhi. The Northeast Delhi Parliamentary constituency is represented by BJP leader Manoj Tiwari, who has been the incumbent MP for three terms now. In Lok Sabha elections 2024, he was up against Congress party's Kanhaiya Kumar, the former JNU Students Union Leader. Kanhaiya joined the Congress in 2021, and contested from Bihar’s Begusarai in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections on a Communist Party of India (CPI) ticket.

Kanhaiya Kumar has made his political debut in the capital during these Lok Sabha elections by contesting against Manoj Tiwari, the three-time sitting MP from Northeast Delhi. Previously, Kumar contested the 2019 Lok Sabha polls on a CPI ticket from the Begusarai seat in Bihar, where he lost to BJP's Giriraj Singh, securing a vote share of around 22%.
Manoj Tiwari has won the Northeast Delhi constituency seat in three consecutive elections: 2014, 2019, and 2024. Despite the BJP winning only three of the assembly segments in the 2020 Delhi elections, with the AAP sweeping seven, Tiwari has remained a strong presence. He is the sole incumbent MP retained by the saffron party in the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections. He received the highest percentage of Muslim votes in Delhi (20.7%) and his vote share increased from 45% in 2014 to 54% in 2019.

The Northeast Delhi Parliamentary constituency includes ten segments: Burari, Timarpur, Seemapuri (SC), Rohtas Nagar, Seelampur, Ghonda, Babarpur, Gokalpur (SC), Mustafabad, and Karawal Nagar. Among these, only three (Rohtas Nagar, Ghonda, and Karawal Nagar) are controlled by the BJP, while the remaining segments are represented by AAP MLAs. The constituency has a Hindu majority, with Muslims accounting for 21% of the population. Other religious groups include Sikhs (1.58%), Buddhists (0.12%), Christians (0.4%), Jains (0.9%), Scheduled Castes (16.76%) and Scheduled Tribe was found at 0%.

Manoj Tiwari vs Kanhaiya Kumar Political Career
Kanhaiya Kumar made his political debut in 2019 Lok Sabha polls by contesting against BJP's Giriraj Singh on a CPI ticket from Begusarai seat in Bihar. Later, he joined Congress in 2021 and was given the charge of the party's student body, National Students' Union of India

Manoj Tiwari’s political journey began in 2009 when he contested the Lok Sabha elections from Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur constituency on a Samajwadi Party ticket but was defeated by Yogi Adityanath, the current Chief Minister of UP. In 2013, he joined the BJP and won the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Northeast Delhi, defeating Anand Kumar of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) by a margin of 144,084 votes. Since then, he is representing the Northeast Delhi constituency.
Kanhiya Kumar vs Manoj Tiwari: Educational Qualifications
Born in January 1987 in Begusarai, Kanhaiya Kumar graduated with a degree in geography from the College of Commerce in Patna. He excelled in the entrance examination for JNU, where he pursued a PhD in African Studies. During his time at university, Kumar was an active member of the All India Students’ Federation, the student wing of the Communist Party of India.
Born on 1 February 1971, Manor Tiwari hails from Atarwalia, a remote village in Bihar's Kaimur district. He holds an MPEd degree from Varanasi’s Banaras Hindu University (BHU).
