National Sports Day being observed today

Today is the National Sports day. The Day is celebrated annually on 29 August to mark the birthday of legendary hockey player Dhyan Chand. On this occasion, President Ram Nath Kovind will give away the sports Awards this evening. A total of 29 players have been selected to receive the honours from President.

DIPP releases next edition of consolidated FDI policy

The Commerce and Industry Ministry on 28 August 2017 released the next edition of its consolidated FDI policy document, incorporating all the changes made over the past year.

The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, DIPP said, the new circular will take effect from the day of release, i.e. 28 August 2017.

The DIPP, which deals with FDI related matters, compiles all policies related to foreign investment regime into a single document to make it simple and easy for investors to understand.

Nepal PM Sher Bahadur Deuba terms his India visit as successful

Nepal Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that his recent India visit was successful and it has laid down the foundation for further strengthening India-Nepal relations.

Briefing members of parliament on 28 August 2017 about his 5-day state visit to India, Deuba said that he put forth the problems of flooding and inundation in border areas before Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He informed the parliament that Pancheshwar Multi-Purpose Project was also discussed and concerned officials have been directed to finalise Detailed Project Report within a month.
