Narendra Kumar Sinha assumes charge as Secretary in I&B Ministry

Narendra Kumar Sinha, a 1980-batch IAS officer from Bihar has assumed charge as Secretary in the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, succeeding Ajay Mittal.

Narendra Kumar Sinha, a 1980-batch IAS officer from Bihar, took over as Secretary in the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting on 30 June 2017.

Sinha would be succeeding IAS officer Ajay Mittal who is getting a transfer. Prior to his appointment, Sinha was serving as the Secretary in the Ministry of Culture under Government of India.

About Narendra Kumar Sinha

• Sinha is a post graduate in Electrical Engineering from IISc, Bengaluru. He also has an MBA from Southern Cross University, Australia and is a Fellow of Institution of Engineers (India).

• During a career span of more than 35 years, he has held various field postings and has worked from grassroots to the higher levels of governance under both State and Central Governments.

• Prior to being Secretary in the Union Ministry of Culture, Sinha served as the Principal Secretary in the Information Technology Department under the Government of Bihar.

• He has also previously served as the Additional Secretary to the Government of India in the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development.

Besides this, he has taken many lectures and participated in numerous workshops, symposiums and public functions to connect with experts, stakeholders and the general public to explain to them government schemes and elicit their response on various government policies and social issues.

He has also travelled widely within the country as well as abroad and has been part of many government delegations during national and international meetings, negotiations and events as a senior member.
