Nayab Singh Saini will take oath as the chief minister of Haryana for a second term on Thursday, October 17. He was chosen as the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislative party today, October 16.
Saini's name was brought up during the Legislature Party meeting in Panchkula, Haryana, by former state minister Anil Vij and former union minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
Nayab Singh Saini will be the New CM of Haryana
Saini, who became the Chief Minister in March 2024 before the Lok Sabha elections, won the Ladwa seat in the Kurukshetra district. The BJP ran for the assembly elections projecting him as the face of the chief minister of Haryana.
Saini led the ruling BJP to a hat-trick of victories in Haryana, defying anti-incumbency sentiment and preventing the Congress party from making an effort at a comeback in the assembly elections.
In response to the BJP's decision, Saini said to party members, "I am pleased to welcome Amit Shah on behalf of the people of Haryana. The appointment of four in-charge by the party's central leadership, all of whom labored to ensure that the BJP won a sizable mandate and the state of Haryana for the third time, makes me extremely glad. I'm grateful to Dharmendra Pradhan and others."
Where is the Oath Ceremony?
The oath-taking ceremony is scheduled to take place today, October 17 at 10 am. The ceremony will be held at the Dusshera grounds in Sector 5, Panchkula.
It is anticipated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other key BJP leaders including Amit Shah, and JP Nadda will be present in the ceremony.
