Prime Minister of Nepal Baburam Bhattarai inaugurated the Global Bihar Summit 2012 in Patna on 18 February 2012. Bhattarai was accompanied by a 17-member delegation from Kathmandu.
Other dignitaries who graced the event include the name of Reserve Bank of India Governor D Subbarao, his predecessor Y V Reddy, Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia, and several prominent persons of Bihari origin.
The three day summit on resurgent Bihar is being organized jointly by Bihar Foundation, Asian Development Research Institute (ADRI) and Institute for Human Development, New Delhi.
The event would comprise of pre-event presentations, six plenary sessions and 11 parallel thematic workshops. The valedictory session of the summit would be held on 19 February 2012.
British economist Nicholas Stern, British Parliamentarian Lord Meghnad Desai, SEBI Chairman U K Sinha, Planning Commission member Abhijit Sen, Industrialist Kumar Mangalam Birla, Lyricist Javed Akhtar and Film maker Prakash Jha have also been invited in the summit.
