North Korea and South Korea exchanged fire across the Yellow Sea on 23rd November 2010. North Korea fired several rounds of artillery shells at Yeonpyeong Island of South Korea. South Korea accused North Korea of breaching the 1953 Armistice Agreement. North Korea refuted the accusation saying that it fired in response to military drills conducted by South Korea recently.
Yeonpyeong Island is situated along the disputed maritime border between the two Koreas.
