The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports on 4 November 2010 approved the participation of 843 members (609 sportspersons, 127 coaches, 44 managers, 8 doctors, 7 physiotherapists, 6 masseurs/masseuse, 9 technical official and 33 officials) of Indian Contingent in the forthcoming 16th Asian Games, 2010. The 16th Asian Games is scheduled to be held at Guangzhou (China) from 12 to 27 November 2010. The participation of 609 sportspersons, 127 coaches, 8 doctors, 6 masseurs/masseuse, 33 officials and 1 manager (hockey) was cleared at cost to Government, participation of 9 technical officials was cleared at air passage cost and participation of 43 managers was cleared at no cost to Government.
