Weightlifter Sanamacha Chanu was handed an eight year ban by the National Anti-Doping Disciplinary panel on 16 November 2010 for a second doping offence. Chanu had tested positive for a diuretic at the Athens Olympics in 2004. The eight-year suspension marked the end of the career of the Manipuri lifter, who has been former Asian and Commonwealth Games champion.
