Saudi Prince executed for murdering a compatriot
A Saudi Arabian Prince Turki bin Saud al-Kabir was executed in October 2016 for shooting a man, Adel al-Mohaimeed, dead. He Prince shot the man during a brawl three years ago in the capital Riyadh.
As per a report, he became the 134th person to be put to death in 2016. This incident is a rare example where a royal family member was executed after being subjected to the death penalty.
One of the most well-known cases of execution of the ruling family member was of Faisal bin Musaid al Saud, who assassinated his uncle, King Faisal, in 1975.
The interior ministry statement said that the prince had pleaded guilty to shooting his compatriot. He was executed in the capital but no details were given that how he was executed. Maximum people executed (convicted for murder and drug trafficking) in the Kingdom are beheaded with a sword.
