Skoda Auto India on 23 March 2012 hiked the price of its cars by 2.2 – 5.1 per cent. The new prices are in line with changing market conditions and would be effective immediately.
With the hike in prices, the Skoda Fabia range will now start at 4.6 lakh rupees, while the Rapid range, which was launched towards the end of 2011, will start at 6.9 lakh rupees. Both are up by around 10000 rupees.
The Laura range will now start at 12.9 lakh rupees (up 20000 rupees) and the Yeti at 13.9 lakh rupees(up 30000 rupees). The flagship Superb has witnessed the highest increase from 18.8 lakh rupees to 19.6 lakh rupees.
Skoda is the third car manufacturer after Tata Motors and Honda to increase prices after the Finance Minister, Mr Pranab Mukherjee, increased excise duty from 10 to 12 per cent.
