Sudhakar Jayant won gold medal at IWF World Masters Weightlifting Championships
Lt Colonel Sudhakar Jayant won the gold medal for the third time at World Masters Weightlifting Championships.
Indian Army's Lt Colonel Sudhakar Jayant on 5 September 2014 won the gold medal for the third time at the IWF World Masters Weightlifting Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark.
He being 45 years old lifted a total of 185kg while competing in 62kg weight category. In snatch, Jayant lifted 85kg and finally in clean and jerk category, he showed his best by lifting 100kg.
Silver medal was won by Finland's Huuskonen Jari who lifted a total of 170kg. While Frederic Robert of France bagged the bronze medal by lifting 145kg.

• Lt Col Sudhakar Jayant is an IIT Alumnus of 1990 batch of Electrical Engineering from Nilgiri Hostel.
• In September 2012, he bagged the Gold medal in the 56 Kg Category with a Snatch of 75 Kg and Clean & Jerk of 95 Kg in 28th Men's and 19th Women's World Masters Championship at Lviv, Ukraine.
• In 2013 at Italy, Jayant won the gold medal with a lift of 192 kg. His lift of 87kg in Snatch category made the Games record.
