Tiger Summit was organised in St Petersburg in November 2010.

The Tiger Summit was organised in St Petersburg on 21 November 2010 by the World Wildlife Fund. Highlighting the number of tigers that dipped to 3200 compared to 100000 a century ago, the organisation mentioned that proper protective measures are not adopted tigers may disappear by 2022, the next Chinese calendar year of the tiger. The summit agreed upon a wide-ranging program with an objective of doubling the world’s tiger population by 2022.The programmes will be backed by governments of the 13 countries till date continues to have a tiger population-Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, Vietnam and Russia. It was estimated that there will be a requirement of outside funding worth $350 million in the first five years of the 12-year plan. The summit sought donor commitments in order to help governments finance conservation measures.
