IAF formally inducts Rafale fighter jets
The Indian Air Force on September 10, 2020, formally inducted the Rafale Fighter Jets in a special induction ceremony at the Ambala airbase in Haryana. The Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and French Minister of the Armed Forces Florence Parly attended the ceremony along with other senior officials from Defence Ministry. The aircraft was formally inducted into IAF with Sarva Dharma Puja which was followed by an air display of the fighter jets and water cannon salute.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar attends SCO Council of Foreign Ministers Meeting
The Union External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar attended the Council of Foreign Ministers Meeting of Shanghai Corporation Organisation (SCO) in Moscow, Russia on September 10, 2020. The Union Minister had landed in Moscow on September 8 for a four-day visit to attend SCO Foreign Ministers Meeting. The meet reviewed the preparations for the upcoming SCO summit as well as discussed a number of urgent foreign policy issues.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launches Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, e-Gopala app
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 10, 2020, digitally launched the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) and e-Gopala app for farmers in Bihar. PM also launched several other initiatives for the fisheries and animal husbandry sectors in Bihar. The yojana aims to focus on the sustainable and focused development of the fisheries sector in the country. While the e-Gopala app is a breed improvement marketplace and information portal launched for the direct use of the farmers.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman launches Doorstep Banking Services
The Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on September 9, 2020, launched Doorstep Banking Services by the Public Sector Banks. The newly launched services aim to provide the customers with the convenience of banking services at their doorstep. As per the official statement, the Doorstep Banking Services will give the convenience of banking services to the customers through the Universal touchpoints of web portal, call centre, or mobile app.
India, Australia, France hold trilateral dialogue to enhance cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region
The Foreign Secretaries of India, Australia, and France co-chaired a first trilateral dialogue on September 9, 2020. The dialogue between the three nations was held with an aim of bringing their respective strengths to ensure a peaceful, secure, and rules-based Indo-Pacific region. The three sides also discussed the geostrategic and economic challenges and cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region, particularly in the context of the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic and the domestic responses to the virus.
