Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on 30 December 2010 revised cost estimate for Neepco’s stalled 60 mw Tuirial hydroelectric project in Mizoram. The revision of cost estimates followed the signing of power purchase agreement by the central public sector generator with the state government. As per the revised estimates the Tuirial hydroelectric project will cost Rs 913 crore. The Cabinet also approved the proposal to amend the Mines Act to widen its scope and tighten key penal provisions.
