The UN General Assembly on 26 October 2010 voted for a resolution calling on the United States to end its five-decade old embargo against Cuba. The United States does not allow trade with and travel to Cuba. The 19th straight annual condemnation of the embargo was supported by 187 countries. The United States and Israel was not in line with the resolution. Three smaller US allies abstained from voting.
The embargo that was first partially imposed in 1960 just after Fidel Castro staged his revolution was turned into law in 1962 and is currently the biggest reminder of the Cold War era.
