Public Sector Lender, Union Bank of India, on 1 April 2012 appointed D. Sarkar as its Chairman and Managing Director (CMD). The appointment is in effect from 1 April 2012.
Sarkar replaced MV Nair, who was holding the top post of the bank over the past six years six years.
Prior to his appointment as the CMD of Union Bank of India, Sarkar was Executive Director of the Kolkata-based Allahabad Bank. He started his career with Bank of Baroda in 1982.
