The Union Government of India on 4 July 2013 decided to depute a technical team to assist in planning, designing and reconstruction of devastated houses in Uttarakhand. The panel from New Delhi would be sent to Uttarakhand on 6 to 7 July 2013 to access the damage caused by natural calamity.
As per the announcement, the Union Government will offer full support to the State Government of Uttarakhand in re-construction of the houses under the Rajiv Awas Yojna.
Earlier, Uttarakhand on 16 July 2013 faced a natural calamity in form of landslides and flash floods in which more than 10000 people died. Several houses and buildings were washed away in the devastation that was witnessed by the state.
