This year, a total of 29 children were honoured with the Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2022 and they were selected from all regions across India for their outstanding achievement in social service, sports, innovation, bravery, art and culture and scholastic.

India's BrahMos Aerospace Private Limited (BAPL) on January 28, 2022 signed a USD 375 million worth deal with the Department of National Defence of the Republic of Philippines for the supply of Brahmos Anti-Ship Missile System to the Philippines.

Andhra Pradesh government has announced the formation of 13 new districts under the AP Districts Formation Act, Section 3(5). The new districts in Andhra Pradesh have been formed based on the Parliamentary constituencies. Xiomara Castro was on January 27, 2021 sworn in as the first-ever female President of Honduras. Castro is also a former first lady, as she is the wife of former Honduras President Manuel Zelaya who was ousted in a coup in 2009.

Chinese scientists have warned of a deadly strain of COVID-19, NeoCoV, which has been discovered in bats in South Africa. The virus strain has been linked to the MERS-CoV virus that was detected previously in 2012 and 2015 in the middle eastern countries.

India's Smriti Mandhana won the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy for ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year for her outstanding contribution with the bat at the top of the order in the previous calendar year.
11. (a) Lucknow Super Giants
The Lucknow IPL team, owned by RPSG Group, will be called Lucknow Super Giants. Dr. Sanjiv Goenka, Lucknow IPL Team owner and RPSG Group Chairman unveiled the new name of the Lucknow IPL team in a video message on January 24, 2022.

India is ranked fourth in the ICC ODI Team Rankings 2022, third in the ICC Test Team Rankings 2022 and second in the ICC T20 Rankings 2022. Virat Kohli is the highest-ranked Indian in ICC ODI Player Rankings 2022.
