1. (a) President

The President of India is the ceremonial head of state of India and commander-in-chief of the Indian Armed Forces. Ram Nath Kovind is the 14th President of India. 

2. (a) Neeraj Chopra

Neeraj Chopra has topped the list of the most-searched person on Google in India 2021, followed by Aryan Khan. Neeraj Chopra won India's first-ever gold medal in Javelin throw at the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

3. (a) IPL 

As per Google India’s ‘Year in Search 2021’, the Indian Premier League (IPL) has filled the top spot for the trending query overall in 2021. IPL is further followed by CoWIN, ICC T20 World Cup, Tokyo Olympics, and Euro Cup in the overall top trending searches in India. 4. (a) Nilmani Phookan

Eminent Assamese Poet Nilmani Phookan Jr. has been honoured with the 56th Jnanpith Award. He has been awarded for his outstanding contribution to literature. This is the third time that Assam has received Jnanpith Award. Before Nilmani Phookan, Birendra Kumar Bhattacharya was honoured with the award in 1979 and Mamoni Raisom Goswami was awarded in 2000.

Human Rights Day is observed annually on December 10th. The day is celebrated every year since 1950 in commemoration of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, by the United Nations in 1948. 

6. (d) December 4th 

The Indian Navy Day is observed annually on December 4 to recognize and acknowledge the role and the achievements of the Indian Navy. Navy Day is celebrated on this day to mark the anniversary of Operation Trident which was launched during the Indo-Pak war in 1971.

7. (d) Babri Masjid demolition 

The Babri Masjid demolition took place on December 6, 1992 by a large group of activists of the Vishva Hindu Parishad and allied organisations. The 16th-century mosque in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, had been a subject of a lengthy socio-political dispute.

8.(c) Sunil Arora

Former Chief Election Commissioner of India, Sunil Arora has been invited to join the Board of Advisers for International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA). IDEA has a 15-member board of advisers, all of whom are eminent personalities from a wide variety of backgrounds. 

9. (b) Bahrain

The 4th Asia Youth Para Games (AYPG) were Bahrain’s biggest Para sport event ever, which took place from December 2 to December 6, 2021. The event saw participation from around 750 Para athletes under 23 years of age from 30 countries around the world.

10. (d) Nicaragua

Nicaragua announced on December 8, 2021 that it is breaking its diplomatic ties with Taiwan in favor of China. Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega said in a statement, "The People's Republic of China is the only legitimate government representing all of China, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of Chinese territory." The only remaining allies of Taiwan in Central America include Belize, Guatemala and Honduras.

11. (a) Overfishing 

In a new study, researchers had analysed the health of coral reefs in 10 countries in the neighbouring areas of the western Indian ocean and the analysis revealed that the coral reefs, especially those in the island nations are in grave danger due to overfishing and the increase in temperature of the water due to global warming. 

12. (c) UAE

The United Arab Emirates announced all government entities will adopt a new work-week schedule consisting of four-and-a-half days with Friday afternoon, Saturday and Sunday forming the new weekend.

13. (a) Rohit Sharma 

Rohit Sharma has been named as the new captain of the Indian ODI and T20I teams. The All-India Senior Selection Committee announced the same on December 8, 2021. He will be succeeding Virat Kohli, who had announced his decision to step down as the T20 captain in September 2021. 

14. (a) Argentina
Argentina defeated six-time winners Germany 4-2 in the FIH Men's junior hockey world cup 2021 final at the Kalinga Stadium in Odisha on December 5, 2021. Argentina has become the only third team after Germany (six wins) and India (2001, 2016) to win multiple Junior Hockey WC titles.
