According to an order of the Government of India, Ajit Doval has been appointed as the National Security Advisor for the third term. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the appointment of Doval from June 10. Doval is the longest serving NSA. Doval was first appointed to the post in 2014, his second term began in 2019 which ended on June 5.

Former IAS officer Dr. Pramod Kumar Mishra has been re-appointed as Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has appointed Dr. Mishra's appointment has been approved. He served as Additional Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister during 2014-19.

Praveen Kumar will be the next Managing Director (MD) of Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL), a public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Railways. The World Economic Forum (WEF) has recently presented the Global Gender Gap Index 2024 report. Compared to last year, this year India has slipped two places to 129th position. Among India's neighbouring countries, Bangladesh (99), Nepal (111), Sri Lanka (125) and Bhutan (124) are ranked ahead of India. Whereas Pakistan is at 145th position.

Recently, the International Astronomical Union (IAU) has named three new craters located within the Tharsis volcanic region on Mars after India's science community and Indian places. The largest crater has been named "Lal Crater" in honour of Professor Devendra Lal. The Mursan Crater is named after the Mursan town of Uttar Pradesh, India, while the Hilsa Crater is named after the Hilsa town of Bihar, India.

The World Bank has recently released the Container Port Performance Index (CPPI) in collaboration with S&P Global Market Intelligence. The CPPI is based on a comprehensive dataset of 405 ports around the world, the largest dataset ever compiled. Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi will be the next Chief of the Indian Army. Upendra Dwivedi will take over as Army Chief from General Manoj C Pandey on June 30. An alumnus of Sainik School, Rewa, Lt Gen Dwivedi was commissioned into the 18 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles on December 18, 1984. Lt Gen Dwivedi has also served as Deputy Chief at Army Headquarters and commanded the 9th Corps in Himachal Pradesh.

Mohan Charan Majhi has taken oath as the 15th Chief Minister of Odisha. BJP has returned to power after 24 years by winning 78 seats in Odisha Assembly elections. He has been an MLA four times and belongs to the Scheduled Tribe. While Kanak Vardhan Singh Dev and Parvati Parida have taken oath as Deputy Chief Ministers.
