The 42nd World Congress of the International Committee of Military Medicine (ICMM) began in New Delhi on 19 November 2017. The 5-day event is organised for the first time in India, and is the largest medical conference ever organised by the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS). The theme of this 42nd World Congress is “Military Medicine in Transition: Looking Ahead”.
2. (b) Qaumi Ekta Week
With a view to foster and reinforce the spirit of Communal Harmony, the Qaumi Ekta Week (National Integration Week) will be observed all over the country from the 19 to 25 November 2017.

India's nominee to the International Court of Justice (ICJ), Dalveer Bhandari was re-elected to the International Court of Justice on 21 November 2017.Bhandari received 183-193 votes in the General Assembly and secured all the 15 votes in the Security Council. Bhandari and Britain's Christopher Greenwood were locked in a neck-to-neck fight for re-election to the ICJ.

The annual IMD World Talent Ranking has placed India at the 51st spot, three ranks above its previous one. Switzerland has topped the list. The annual IMD ranking covers 63 countries and it assesses the methods the countries adopted to attract and retain talent. The rankings are based on a country's performance in three main categories - investment and development, appeal, and readiness - and India was ranked 62nd, 43rd and 29th on these terms.
5. (b) Rukhmabai Raut
Google Doodle on 22 November 2017 honoured Rukhmabai Raut, the first Indian woman to practice medicine in colonial India, on her 153rd birth anniversary. The Doodle, designed by illustrator Shreya Gupta, shows Rukhmabai among her patients, doing the dedicated work of a skilled physician.
6. (a) Mahila Shakti Kendra
The Union Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave its approval for expansion of the schemes of WCD Ministry under umbrella Scheme ‘Mission for Protection and Empowerment for Women’ for a period 2017-18 to 2019-20. The cabinet also approved a new scheme called ‘Mahila Shakti Kendra', which will empower rural women through community participation.

The Union Cabinet led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 22 November 2017 approved the setting up of the 15th Finance Commission. The decision was a constitutional obligation under Article 280 (1) of the Constitution. The 15th Finance commission would be making recommendations for a period of five years starting from 1 April 2020.

Zimbabwe's former Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa will be sworn in as the President of the country on 24 November 2017. The nation’s ruling ZANU-PF party nominated him to fill the vacancy left by Robert Mugabe, who stepped down recently ending his 37 years of rule.
9. (c) Shubhangi Swaroop
Shubhangi Swaroop, a native of Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh, became the first-ever female pilot to be inducted into the Indian Navy and will soon fly Maritime Reconnaissance aircraft. Besides Swaroop, Astha Segal from New Delhi, Puducherry’s Roopa A and Sakthi Maya S from Kerala also created history by becoming the country’s first women officers to be inducted in the Naval Armament Inspection (NAI) branch of the Navy.
10. (c) Myanmar
The week-long Army warfare exercise between India and Myanmar began on 20 November 2017 at the Joint Warfare Centre at Umroi near Shillong in Meghalaya. The exercise code-named India-Myanmar Bilateral Army Exercise (IMBAX) is aimed at building and promoting closer relations with armies of the neighbouring countries.
