Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently laid the foundation stone of the ₹49,000 crore Ken-Betwa River Link Project in Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh. The project is considered crucial for solving the water crisis in 13 districts of Bundelkhand region, benefiting around 65 lakh people. This project will meet the water shortage in Bundelkhand region, which has been facing drought and water crisis for a long time.

India's 18-year-old weightlifter Martina Devi Maibam won the silver medal at the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships. She lifted a total of 225 kg in the women's +87 kg category, including 96 kg in snatch and 129 kg in clean and jerk. Martina also won a bronze medal in snatch in this competition, while getting a silver medal in clean and jerk.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved the appointment of Amitav Chatterjee as the new Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Jammu and Kashmir Bank (J&K Bank). China has officially approved the construction of the world's largest hydropower dam on the lower reaches of the Yarlung Tsangpo River. This ambitious project is expected to generate about 300 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, three times the capacity of the current largest dam, the Three Gorges Dam in central China.

The bilateral naval exercise between India and Sri Lanka, SLINEX 24 (Sri Lanka-India Exercise 2024) was conducted from 17 to 20 December in two phases under the aegis of Eastern Naval Command in Visakhapatnam. The port phase was held from 17 to 18 December and the sea phase from 19 to 20 December. It started between the two countries in the year 2005.
