According to World Trade Organisation data, India is set to emerge as the world's eighth largest exporter of agricultural products in 2023. In the year 2022, exports had declined from $55 billion to $51 billion. This stability comes amid a general decline in agricultural exports among seven of the top ten exporting countries.

2. (c) Tel Aviv

Air India has announced the immediate suspension of all flights from Tel Aviv till August 8, 2024, citing security concerns due to the ongoing situation in parts of the Middle East. Air India said that the safety of passengers and crew is its top priority.

Manu Bhaker won the bronze medal in the women's 10m air pistol event at Paris 2024 and created history by becoming the first Indian woman to win an Olympic shooting medal. At the same time, the pair of Bhaker and Sarabjot gave India the second medal. Shooter Swapnil Kusale has won the third medal for India at the Paris Olympics by winning the bronze medal in the men's 50m rifle 3 position final.

India and 13 other Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF) partners have recently established three supply chain bodies under the landmark Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF) agreement. India has been made Vice President of the Supply Chain Council.  

5. (a) Preeti Sudan

Recently, former Union Health Secretary Preeti Sudan has been selected as the next Chairman of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Let us tell you that a month ago, Union Public Service Commission Chairman Manoj Soni had resigned from his post before the end of his tenure. Preeti Sudan is a 1983 batch IAS officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre. He has about 37 years of experience.

6. (c) Gulab Chand Kataria

Gulab Chand Kataria took oath as the new Governor of Punjab and Chandigarh Administrator at Punjab Raj Bhavan. Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court Sheel Nagu administered the oath to him. Kataria has become the 30th Governor of Punjab. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was also present in the swearing-in ceremony.

7. (d) Dharmendra Pradhan

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan launched the National Apprenticeship and Training Scheme 2.0 portal and distributed stipends worth Rs 100 crore to apprentices through DBT mode in New Delhi. These trainees are taking training in various sectors like information technology, manufacturing and automobile. This initiative is in line with the government's focus on skills and employment of youth.

8. (b) Periyar Tiger Reserve

A wind turbine has recently been installed in the Periyar Tiger Reserve (PTR) to generate power for real-time cameras and Wi-Fi connectivity inside the forests. PTR East Division comprises 17 forest blocks where mobile network connectivity is currently unavailable. The Periyar Tiger Reserve is located in the mountainous Western Ghats of Kerala, southern India.

9. (c) Laxman Prasad Acharya

In Assam, Laxman Prasad Acharya today took oath as the new Governor of the state. Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court Justice Vijay Bishnoi administered the oath of office to the new Governor. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his cabinet colleagues were also present on the occasion. Mr Acharya previously served as the Governor of Sikkim.

10. (a) Japan

The UNESCO World Heritage Committee recently decided to register Japan's Sado gold mine as a cultural heritage site. This decision is also a sign of improvement in relations between Tokyo and Seoul.  The mine is located on an island off the coast of Niigata in northern Japan.
