According to World Trade Organisation data, India is set to emerge as the world's eighth largest exporter of agricultural products in 2023. In the year 2022, exports had declined from $55 billion to $51 billion. This stability comes amid a general decline in agricultural exports among seven of the top ten exporting countries.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan launched the National Apprenticeship and Training Scheme 2.0 portal and distributed stipends worth Rs 100 crore to apprentices through DBT mode in New Delhi. These trainees are taking training in various sectors like information technology, manufacturing and automobile. This initiative is in line with the government's focus on skills and employment of youth.

A wind turbine has recently been installed in the Periyar Tiger Reserve (PTR) to generate power for real-time cameras and Wi-Fi connectivity inside the forests. PTR East Division comprises 17 forest blocks where mobile network connectivity is currently unavailable. The Periyar Tiger Reserve is located in the mountainous Western Ghats of Kerala, southern India.

In Assam, Laxman Prasad Acharya today took oath as the new Governor of the state. Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court Justice Vijay Bishnoi administered the oath of office to the new Governor. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his cabinet colleagues were also present on the occasion. Mr Acharya previously served as the Governor of Sikkim.

The UNESCO World Heritage Committee recently decided to register Japan's Sado gold mine as a cultural heritage site. This decision is also a sign of improvement in relations between Tokyo and Seoul. The mine is located on an island off the coast of Niigata in northern Japan.
