The Women's Premier League (WPL) is India's premier T20 cricket tournament for women, organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). 

The 2025 season, marking its third edition, is scheduled from February 14 to March 15. In the opening match on February 14, defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru will face Gujarat Giants. 

This season features five teams: Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Delhi Capitals, and UP Warriorz. Matches will be held across four cities: Vadodara, Bengaluru, Lucknow, and Mumbai. 

The tournament follows a double round-robin format, where each team plays the others twice—the top three teams advance to the playoffs, culminating in the final on March 15.

WPL 2025 Format: How the Tournament Works and Playoff Rules

The 2025 Women's Premier League (WPL) will be the third season of the women's Twenty20 cricket league organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The tournament is scheduled to take place from February 14 to March 15, 202512.

Format Overview

  • Teams: The tournament will feature five teams: Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and UP Warriorz.
  • League Stage: Each team will play every other team twice in a double round-robin format, totalling 20 league matches. This means each team will have a home and an away game against every other team.
  • Venues: The matches will be held across four venues: Bengaluru (M. Chinnaswamy Stadium), Lucknow (Ekana Cricket Stadium), Mumbai (Brabourne Stadium), and Vadodara (Kotambi Stadium).

Playoffs

  • The top three teams will qualify for the playoffs based on their points after the league matches.
  • The team finishing at the top of the points table will directly advance to the final.
  • The second and third-placed teams will compete in an Eliminator match to determine who will face the top team in the final. The winner of the Eliminator will move on to the final match.
  • The final match is scheduled for March 15, 2025.
