Fit India School Rating System was launched by Human Resource Development Ministry Ramesh Pokhriyal and Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju at the Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1 Delhi Cantt on Wednesday.
The ministers also inaugurated the newly constructed cricket stadium constructed with an estimated Rs. 294.41 Lakhs. The stadium is said to facilitate around 5000 children every year.
Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju at the event said that the Fit India School Rating system according to the different parameters will help in enhancing the image of the schools. He also added that Kendriya Vidyalayas are ahead of the other schools in case of promoting culture and sports along with education adding that only fit people can make the nation fit.
He also took the opportunity to compliment the CBSE for joining hands with the Sports Ministry in making the Fit India Movement a success with active participation from its schools.
Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal in a release stated that a healthy India is the foundation of making a New India. He added that the Fit India programme is an innovative initiative that was launched by the Prime Minister in order to increase awareness among the people and also encourage people to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
He also said that health not only means the absence of a disease in a person but is also applicable to how happy a full of energy a person is. He also said that at present there is an existing programme in Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan called ‘Healthy Children Healthy India’ and the new Fit India programme will give it a whole new dimension.
HRD Minister also said that Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan and the Central Board of Secondary Education play an important role in all the fields related to school education. He also said that there are more than 16 lakh schools and over one thousand universities with over 33 crore students which is a huge youth power that will bring life into the Fit India Campaign.
