School and Colleges Reopening Update: As per the reports, two of the states, Himachal Pradesh and Rajsthan has reopened the schools. In Himachal, schools have reopened for senior classes of 9th to 12th whereas, in Rajasthan schools for classes 1st to 5th has reopened. The decision has been taken after recording a decline in COVID-19 cases and an increase in vaccination rates. While reopening the schools, the authorities have to follow COVID-19 safety protocols. Anyone found violating the same, will be penalised as per the rules. Apart from schools, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has also reopened for Final Year M.Sc and MBA students.
Schools and Colleges Reopening Updates
- Rajasthan: The state government has given its nod for the phased reopening of schools. From today, schools for classes 1st to 5th reopened. Earlier, the authorities reopened schools for classes 6th to 8th from 20th September. Attendance has not been made mandatory yet, and only those students who wish to attend offline classes will be allowed to do so. Only 50% of students are allowed to attend schools for now. Since classes are starting in phases, in the first phase, classes will be filled only up to 50% of their holding capacity. The rule of 'No Mask, No Entry' will be followed and at the entry gate itself, thermal screening is being done.
- Himachal Pradesh: As per updates, schools in Himachal Pradesh will resume physical classes for classes 9th to 12th. Schools have reopened for 3 days a week for students with proper SOPs. Those in classes 10 and 12 have to come to school on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, while those in classes 9 and 11 will come to school on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Further, all proper COVID-19 protocols should be followed by all the stakeholders such as wearing masks, using hand sanitisers, wearing masks, and others.
- JNU Reopening: As per updates, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has reopened from today for third-year PhD Scholars and for Final Year MBA, MSc students. The University had earlier said that it will open in a phased manner. Further, it stated that it will allow entry of third-year PhD scholars, both hostellers and day scholars into the campus. Also, to avoid overcrowding, it has been decided to decentralise the process of issuance of ID card from the security office. The students' ID cards will be issued at the School/Special Centre level.
