Assam Students will shortly get benefitted by the Cloud Services after they are connected to it, as announced by the state education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on 20 February 2014.
During an event in which Netbooks were distributed among students under a government-sponsored programme, Sarma informed that the education department is also having goals to provide internet connectivity to the state students, enrolled in colleges across the state with an aim to keep them updated.
The scheme of providing students with free Netbooks and Laptops will be fruitful only when the students will be connected to cloud services as well, said Sarma.
The state government is providing free Netbook computers and laptops to those students who have successfully scored 50% marks or above in the matriculation. He added that aim to connect students with cloud services is to let them be aware of the latest developments in the field of education.
Once students are connected via cloud, the administration will send them timely updates in relation to all examinations, study plan, as well as provide students with study materials, told minister.
Sarna told that the decision of connecting students through cloud services was in the state’s annual plan for this year. Cloud computing is a process through which a program or an application is run over many computers which have been connected by a network. This will help thousands of students who have passed matric, and who have received computers and Netbooks from the state government.
