For their contribution in the field of children’s literature, five novelists, four short story writers and three poets for their poetries were announced to receive the coveted Sahitya Akademi award. The announcement was made on Wednesday for the Bal Sahitya Puraskar, which is the highest award dealing with Children’s Literature.
The Award comprises of Rs. 50,000 and a casket that contains a copper plaque and a citation and it was instituted by Sahitya Akademi. The award is given in the field of literature. This year Tiren Boro (Bodo), Sowmya Rajendran and Nivditha Subramaniam (English), Ramnath G Gawde (Konkini), Ramdeo Jha (Maithili) and Mukti Upadhyay ‘Baral’ (Nepali) would get the prestigious award for their significant contribution in literature through their novels.
For short stories, Nayeem Kashmiri (Kashmiri), Thokchom Thouyangba Meitei (Manipuri), Krishna Kumar ‘Ashu’ (Rajasthani) and Janardhan Hegde (Sanskrit), would get the awards this year.
For the poetry section three poets have got through to get the award this year. Tara Chand Kalandri (Dogri), Srikanta Saren (Santali) and Sella Ganapathi (Tamil) have been adjudged winner of this year in the poetry section, for their immense collections of poetries.
Apart from these winners there are other winners on different categories as well. Bano Sartaj (Urdu) has got the honor for her book, which is a one act play. Eli Ahmed (Assamese) and Kartik Ghose (Bengali), among few others, have got the honor of receiving Bal Sahitya Puraskar 2015 for their significant contribution in the field of Children’s Literature.
