CAT Exam Overview: Complete Information

    Common Admission Test (CAT) is one of the most prestigious MBA Entrance examinations conducted in India.  CAT is conducted by one of the IIMs every year. CAT Exam sees approximately 2 lakh registrations every year.

    CAT Examination witnesses an ever evolving examination format. Till the year 2008 CAT examination was a paper based examination. CAT 2009 onwards CAT Exam has become an online exam. Another change which came in CAT Exam pattern was in 2014, where the number of sections was reduced to 2 and no. of questions were increased to 100.

    CAT Examination Pattern (Followed in CAT 2014):

    No. of Sections: 02

    Name of the Sections:

    • Quantitative Aptitude & Data Interpretation
    • Logical Reasoning & Verbal Ability

    No. of Questions in each section: 50

    Total no. of Questions asked in CAT Examination: 100

    CAT Examination Pattern & Duration:

    CAT Exam consists of objective type questions. It is conducted on computer. Total time provided to solve 100 questions in CAT Exam is 170 minutes.

    Marking Scheme of CAT Examination:

    Questions in the CAT Examination carry variable marks. Some are 3 mark questions and some are 4 markers. There is a negative marking for every wrong response.

    CAT Exam is conducted by IIMs but many colleges in India accept CAT Score.
